Some of the original factory texture was still visible under the external paint

It may have been  re-issued in the Korean War as EGA stamps have been applied

Brit39 it has a plastic frameBrit39 The shell is an original WW2, British manufactured MkII shell with a stainless steel banded edge. The stainless steel chinstrap lugs are the MkIII type and are very faintly marked III 1940. The factory stamps under the flare are JSS 57 1 1941 (Joseph Sankey & Sons Ltd, Bilston). When acquired the shell outer had multiple layers of paint, the top layer was red; the inner was covered in layers of grey. The shell cleaned up nicely; it was stripped
