Originally created as a WWI recruitment poster and later reused by Fawcett for the October 1931 issue of Battle Stories, it shows bare armed soldiers locked around artillery for Zero Hours with the Devil Dogs. This language of heroic masculinity now reads with a queer charge. Muscle, danger, service and a very public excuse to look.
